Smooth and Durable Finish
The most characteristic feature with Polyester powder coatings is the very good colour and gloss retention in outdoor exposure. Polyester has very good edge covering power, flow properties, wear resistance in addition to a great tolerance regarding over colour change if over curing has happened.
Polyester powder coating is available in a huge range of colours and finishes and provides a great decorative finish to any product.
It is necessary to use a suitable pretreatment to optimise adhesion and corrosion resistance of coated aluminum profiles. The chemical resistance in acid environments is good, less good in alkaline environments. The resistance against solvents is limited.
Polyester coatings feature hard, abrasion-resistant properties which make them ideal for such applications as architectural metalwork, shopfittings, garden and leisure equipment, handrails, roller shutter doors and sheet metalwork - 60-100 microns is typical.
Coating Large Items
Batchglow specialise in coating large items. The coating of large architectural staircases with polyester is a great example of Batchglow's in-house capacity of coating large pieces in one piece.
Batchglow recently applied a metallic polyester finish to numerous baggage handling bays in Terminal 5 at Heathrow resulting in a highly visible, hard wearing and well finished piece of engineering.
