FBE coating for the construction industry
Fusion bonded epoxy coating, commonly referred to as FBE coating, is an epoxy based powder coating that is utilised in the construction industry steel pipes, concrete reinforcing rebars from corrosion.
FBE coatings are also used on pipes carrying gas and liquids protecting the internal and external surfaces with anti-corrosion properties.
The coating provides long term adhesion to steel and ensures the pipes are protected over a wide temperature range and all climatic conditions. The coating is also flexible to cope with pipe bending.
This highly protective coating is applied slightly differently to the traditional electrostatic method of spraying the cold powder onto cold metal then curing in an oven. This product is sprayed onto the metal whilst it is hot and then allowed to flow out over the surface. The result is a very hard and often very thick finish to the product (250-500 microns is achievable).
